"Inchelium Red is a hearty heirloom variety for Southern gardeners.
Inchelium Red garlic is named after the Washington State Reservation on which it was cultivated. Inchelium Red produces large bulbs with 10-20 cloves per bulb. Excellent flavor and long storage life. We have propagated this variety for several years at our test garden in central Arkansas and have found it to hold its size reliably for multiple seasons, and to have very good storage life. Very heat tolerant. Bulb size improves the better the soil, but it can tolerate poorer growing conditions without total crop loss. An excellent choice for southern and first-time growers. How do I plant garlic?
- Separate the garlic bulb into cloves. Do this as close to planting time as possible as they will begin to soften quickly after separating.
- Plant each clove pointy side UP, 2"-6" deep (the further north you are, the deeper you plant).
- Space 5" apart, with 8"-10" between rows.
