Chaffhaye is premium, Non-GMO bagged alfalfa with yeast, beneficial enzymes and live microorganisms. It captures characteristics of fresh pasture while offering guaranteed nutrition. Chaffhaye uses no genetically modified organisms, just the highest quality alfalfa harvested at optimal plant maturity to maximize nutrients. It is grown on Non-GMO Project Verified fields and is closely monitored for consistent nutrition.

Chaffhaye is a supreme source of fiber, protein, and nutrients for horses and other animals. It is a natural source of yeast, beneficial enzymes and live microorganisms that support healthy digestion and absorption of nutrients. Chaffhaye helps establish healthy microflora in the gut of weaning animals and reduces digestive ailments, including colic and impaction. Being easily masticated and digested, Chaffhaye is the perfect solution for senior horses. Chaffhaye retains natural plant moisture and is 100% dust free. This makes it ideal for horses with coughing and respiratory ailments.

It contains low percentages of sugar and starch, and since the fermentation converts sugars into beneficial lactic acid, the level of simple sugars in Chaffhaye falls below 5% - less than the sugar level of most growing pasture or even so-called “low sugar” commercial feed. This product is easily mixed with other forages and/or pelleted feeds, allowing you to craft a custom ration of desired nutrition for your animal. Chaffhaye is much more nutritious than hay, so the amount of supplements and hard feeds can often be reduced.

Soft and leafy like pasture, Chaffhaye provides a pleasant aroma and is coarsely chopped to release enzymes and maintain good gut motility. A kiss of molasses ensures that every last bit is licked clean. Horses normally eat 100% of Chaffhaye, including stem matter. This means less waste and cleaner stalls.

While ruminants are relatively immune to the toxin in blister beetles, it can cause fever, colic, and even cardiac failure in horses. The manufacturer regularly monitors the crop fields to prevent blister beetle infestation. Chaffhaye has never had an incident of blister beetles in their products. 

Chaffhaye has a 16 month shelf life with no loss of nutritional value. Nutritionally, one bag of Chaffhaye is equal to 1 ½ bales of good quality hay.

Important usage and storage information: Chaffhaye is a fermented product which, unopened and with an unbroken seal, will last up to 18 months. Once opened, or if seal is broken, we recommend using within 2 weeks. Chaffhaye is ideal for habitats where foreign seeds are controlled or prohibited by law.
